School Medical Room

At Christian Brothers' Grammar School, we are very fortunate to have a dedicated Staff Welfare Officer (Nurse) on site to support the health and wellbeing of our pupils throughout the school day.

The School Medical Room is located close to the Pupil Welfare Area, alongside the Mentoring and Counselling rooms, making it easily accessible for pupils when needed. The facility is open from 8.45am to 4.00pm and provides a safe, supportive and confidential environment for pupils requiring care or assistance.

Supporting Health and Wellbeing

The Staff Welfare Officer works closely with both education and healthcare professionals to promote and protect the physical, emotional and mental wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors to the school.

Working in partnership with families, external agencies and health professionals, the service provides support, guidance and referrals where appropriate to ensure pupils receive the care they need.

A Caring and Supportive Presence

The Welfare Service plays an important role within the wider pastoral care structure of the school. Through compassion, professionalism and a genuine commitment to pupil wellbeing, pupils are supported in a caring environment where they feel safe, listened to and valued.

Counselling

Counselling Services

At Christian Brothers' Grammar School, we understand that pupils may sometimes experience personal difficulties which affect their wellbeing and school life. While many manage these challenges successfully, some may benefit from additional support.

To provide this support, the school works in partnership with Family Works Independent School Counselling Service, offering a qualified counsellor in school one day per week.

The counselling service provides a confidential, supportive and non-judgemental space where pupils can talk through any concerns and receive appropriate guidance.

Common issues may include:

  • Family separation or bereavement
  • Illness within the family
  • Friendship or relationship difficulties
  • Homesickness
  • Emotional or behavioural concerns

Pupils can refer themselves directly by email or by using the counsellor’s post box.

Parents with concerns are encouraged to contact the school and speak with the relevant Head of Student Learning or the Vice Principal for Pastoral Care and Wellbeing.
